Getting Started with the HTTPS Add-on for Secure FTP Server
System Requirements
Server computer running GlobalSCAPE Secure FTP Server version 3.1+.
You must have a working Internet connection during the trial of the product, as well as to perform the product activation. Once activated, an Internet connection is not required to run the software.
Installation and Activation Instructions
If you have not already done so, register and activate Secure FTP Server. See
Getting Started With Secure FTP Server
.
Start Secure FTP Server Administrator on the server computer and then select a server from the tree on the left side.
On the
Help
menu, click
Enter HTTP Module Serial Number
and follow the onscreen instructions. To activate the software, you must be connected to the Internet and have administrator privileges on the server computer. Click

Press F5 to refresh.
Basic Setup Instructions
Start Secure FTP Server Administrator and then select the relevant site from the tree on the left side.
Click the
Connection Options
tab and select
Allow HTTPS transfers on port
. The port for HTTPS transfers is set to port
443
by default.
To use HTTPS, an SSL certificate is required. You can create your own self-signed certificate or for added confidence you can use a certificate signed by a trusted third party.
To create your own self-signed SSL certificate, click
Create Certificate
and follow the onscreen instructions.
To use an existing SSL certificate, type the full path path to your
certificate file
and your
private key file
and then type your
private key passphrase
.
Click
Apply
.
By default all users with an account on the site will be able to establish an HTTPS connection. You can restrict HTTPS access at either the Setting Level or the User Level. To restrict HTTPS connections:
Select either the
Setting Level
or the
User
and then click the
Security
tab.
Under
Protocol Permissions
, click to clear the
Allow access using SSL over FTP/HTTP protocols
check box and then click
Apply
.
Authorized users should be instructed to connect to the site with their Web browser at
https://Your.Site.Address
